CRO pricing: what conversion rate optimization costs in 2026

Done-for-you AI CRO with me starts at $4,000 a month. Below is exactly what that includes, what agencies, freelancers and in-house teams charge for the same work, and the simple math to check if CRO pays for itself on your store.

What CRO costs in 2026

OptionTypical costWhat you usually get
Full in-house team (strategist, analyst, designer, developer, copywriter)~$500,000 a year in the US, about $40,000 a monthA few tests a month, plus recruiting and management
One CRO specialist on staff~$75,000–$145,000 a year (salary data)Ideas and analysis; still needs design and development help
Traditional CRO agency$5,000–$15,000 a month1–2 tests a month
Freelancerroughly $2,000–$6,000 a monthDepends on one person’s skills; often design or analysis, rarely both
AI CRO with mefrom $4,000 a monthSenior strategy plus many tests a month, each built in hours

The price alone tells you little. Compare how many real A/B tests ship each month, and whether they are judged on revenue per visitor, not on clicks or opinions. Ten tests a year and fifty tests a year give very different results at the end of the year. (Full breakdown, hidden costs and pricing models: how much does CRO cost.) What you get from $4,000 a month

  • A CRO audit of your full funnel: homepage, collections, product pages, cart and checkout, with the biggest leaks ranked by what they cost you. (What the audit covers.)
  • A testing roadmap built on your customers’ real doubts, taken from reviews, support messages, surveys and session data.
  • Done-for-you A/B tests: design, copy and code built with AI in the style of your store, reviewed by me, launched in days instead of weeks.
  • Analysis of every test, winners and losers, with the sample size and the revenue impact.
  • A monthly report on the numbers that pay your bills: revenue per visitor, conversion rate, order value and profit.
  • Direct access to me, not an account manager.

Does CRO pay for itself? The simple math

Take your monthly revenue and multiply it by a realistic lift. Brands that test consistently usually see conversion rate rise 10–25% in six months.

Monthly revenue+10% conversionPer yearFee from
$50,000+$5,000 a month~$60,000$4,000 a month
$100,000+$10,000 a month~$120,000$4,000 a month
$300,000+$30,000 a month~$360,000$4,000 a month
$1,000,000+$100,000 a month~$1,200,000$4,000 a month

That is why the ideal store makes $100,000+ a month: even a modest 10% lift pays the fee more than twice over, and every win keeps paying after the test ends. Put in your own numbers with the ecommerce KPI checker or the conversion rate calculator.

Agency, in-house team, freelancer or consultant?

An in-house team makes sense when CRO is a core function in a very large company and you can hire, train and manage five people. It is the most expensive option and the slowest to start.

A traditional agency brings a full team without hiring, but you pay for every hour of production, so most agencies ship one or two tests a month.

A freelancer is the cheapest way in, but one person rarely covers research, design, copy, development and statistics. Tests stall when one of those is missing.

A consultant with AI (what I do) gives you the senior strategy of an agency lead and the output of a full team, because AI does the slow production work and I review every test. You get many tests a month for less than most agencies charge for two.

Who this is for

A good fit if you: make at least $100,000 a month, get 10,000+ visitors a month, and can commit to at least six months of testing.

Not a fit yet if you: are just starting out without traffic, want a magic button that doubles sales overnight, or aren’t willing to change anything on your site. Start with the free training and the free calculators instead.

Frequently asked questions

How much does CRO cost?

In 2026, traditional CRO agencies usually charge $5,000–$15,000 a month, freelancers roughly $2,000–$6,000 a month, and a full in-house team about $500,000 a year in the US. Done-for-you AI CRO with me starts at $4,000 a month.

What is included in the $4,000 a month?

A full audit of your funnel, a testing roadmap ranked by revenue, A/B tests designed, written, built and launched for you, analysis of every result, and a monthly report on revenue per visitor. You don't need a designer or developer on your side.

Why is AI CRO cheaper than an agency but ships more tests?

Agencies charge for the hours of a strategist, designer, developer and analyst on each test. AI builds the design, copy and code of a test in hours, and I review every one. You pay for senior strategy, not for slow production.

Is CRO worth it for my store?

It pays for itself when a small lift is worth more than the fee. On a store doing $100,000 a month, 10% more conversion is about $10,000 more revenue every month. On a store doing $20,000 a month, the same lift is $2,000, so start with the free training and the checklists first.

How long is the commitment?

Plan for at least six months. Each test needs a few weeks of traffic, and wins stack: the gains in month six come on top of the wins from months one to five.

Do I need to pay for an A/B testing tool on top?

Usually a testing app is needed on your store. Its cost depends on your traffic. I help you choose one that fits your size, so you don't overpay for an enterprise plan.
