Real product page tests: per month and per year
Every line below is an A/B test on a real store: half the visitors saw the original page, half the new one. Monthly and yearly figures are the measured result extended to all traffic.
| Change on the product page | Measured lift | Extra revenue a month | Extra revenue a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product description moved above Add to Cart | +9.7% revenue per visitor | ~$63,000 | ~$760,000 |
| Video instead of a photo as the main product image | +16% revenue per visitor | ~$59,000 | ~$711,000 |
| One five-star review under Add to Cart | +8% revenue per visitor (~1M visitors) | ~$45,500 | ~$546,000 |
| Honest low-stock counter, carried to the cart | +5.84% cart-to-purchase, 98% confidence | ~$44,000 | ~$500,000 |
| Price raised by 7.4% | +4% revenue per visitor, fewer orders | ~$25,000 | ~$302,000 |
| A “Selling fast” tag based on real sales | +17.1% revenue per visitor | ~$12,500 | ~$150,000 |
| Page rebuilt around customers’ doubts | +13% conversion rate | ~$13,000 on a $100K/month store | ~$156,000 on a $100K/month store |
These are separate tests on different stores, so don’t add them up. What they show: on a busy product page, one well-chosen change is often worth more than a year of a CRO fee.
Full write-ups: the description test, the review test, the price test, the stock counter, the “Selling fast” tag.
And the tests that didn’t win
On a high-ticket store where two in a thousand visitors buy:
- A review block under Add to Cart: 13 orders without it, 5 with it. Stopped on day seven.
- A trust box under Add to Cart: +6% (36 → 38 orders) after almost 50,000 visitors. Not proven yet.
- A size guide: +30% (9 → 12 orders). Promising, still running until it reaches 90% confidence.
The same idea can win on one store and lose on another. That’s why every change is tested first. (All six tests.)
What I optimize on a product page
| Element | What gets tested | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Main image | Video vs photo, lifestyle vs product shot, scale | The first thing people see; video won +16% revenue per visitor |
| Description | Above or below the button, short benefits vs long copy | Hidden descriptions hide the reasons to buy |
| Reviews | One strong review near the button, photo reviews, review count | Answers “can I trust this?” at the moment of decision |
| Delivery and returns | Delivery date, free returns, guarantee near the button | Removes the last risk before Add to Cart |
| Price and offers | Price points, bundles, multi-packs, “better and best” versions | Raises revenue per visitor, not only conversion |
| Urgency | Honest stock and “Selling fast” signals from real data | Real scarcity wins; fake countdowns lose trust |
| Size and fit | Size guides, fit notes, “true to size” from reviews | Fewer doubts, fewer returns |
| Mobile | Sticky Add to Cart, image size, page length | Most traffic is mobile and converts at about half the desktop rate |
How it works
- Find the doubts. AI reads your reviews, support messages and session recordings on the product page and groups what stops people from buying.
- Rank by money. Each idea is ranked by the revenue it could move on your traffic.
- Build with AI, check by hand. Each variant is built in your store’s style in hours and checked on every device.
- A/B test it. 50/50, a planned length, judged on revenue per visitor (conversion rate on high-ticket stores).
- Roll out and stack. Winners go live for everyone, and the next test builds on them.
Who this is for
A good fit if you: make at least $100,000 a month, get 10,000+ visitors a month, and can commit to at least six months of testing.
Done-for-you product page optimization starts at $4,000 a month as part of the CRO programme: CRO pricing. See also Shopify A/B testing and Shopify checkout optimization.
