Real checkout results: per month and per year
| Change | Measured result | Extra revenue a month | Extra revenue a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify Plus checkout rebuilt with 7 changes (month over month) | Orders +36% with 2% fewer visitors | ~$130,000 | ~$1,560,000 |
| Honest low-stock counter carried from product page to cart | Cart-to-purchase +5.84%, 98% confidence, A/B test, AOV flat ($191.32 vs $190.82) | ~$44,000 | ~$500,000 |
The checkout result was measured month over month, not as a split test, so part of it can come from other factors. With 2% fewer visitors and 36% more orders, the lift came from more people finishing, which points to the checkout. (The full checkout write-up.) The stock counter was a true A/B test: order value stayed flat, so its lift also came from more shoppers completing their purchase. (The stock counter test.)
What every point of checkout drop is worth
For a store doing $100,000 a month with a $100 average order (2,500 people start checkout, 1,000 finish at a 60% drop rate):
| Improvement | Extra orders a month | Extra revenue a month | Extra revenue a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| −2 points (60% → 58%) | +50 | +$5,000 | +$60,000 |
| −3 points | +75 | +$7,500 | +$90,000 |
| −4 points | +100 | +$10,000 | +$120,000 |
At $300,000 a month, the same two points are worth $180,000 a year.
Checkout drop rate benchmarks
| Drop rate | Rating |
|---|---|
| 40–45% | Excellent |
| 46–55% | Good |
| 56–65% | Average (most stores) |
| Above 65% | Poor |

How it works
- Measure the drop. Checkout drop rate by device and traffic source, plus session recordings of people who leave.
- Find the reasons. Surprise costs, missing payment methods, trust, distractions: grouped from recordings and support messages.
- Build and test. AI builds each change in hours; I check it on every device and test it where traffic allows.
- Keep what pays. Judged on revenue per visitor, rolled out, and stacked with the next win.
Who this is for
A good fit if you: make at least $100,000 a month, have a checkout drop rate above about 50%, and can commit to at least six months of testing. Checkout-step changes need Shopify Plus; cart changes don’t.
Done-for-you checkout optimization starts at $4,000 a month as part of the CRO programme: CRO pricing. See also Shopify product page optimization and Shopify A/B testing.
